SBM Offshore and Technip Energies Join Forces—Introducing Ekwil: A powerhouse in floating offshore wind energy
In a groundbreaking development in the renewable energy sector, SBM offshore and technip energies have officially joined forces to launch Ekwil, a 50-50 joint venture dedicated to floating offshore wind energy. This collaboration signifies a pivotal step in the global energy transition, heralding a new era of offshore wind technology advancements.
Ekwil is set to become a pure-play delivery partner focused on providing diverse and innovative floating offshore wind solutions to meet the increasing and stringent demands of the global energy market. Leveraging the combined expertise and extensive experience of these two industry giants, Ekwil aims to lead the market towards the commercialization of floating offshore wind through two pioneering technologies: Technip Energies’ semi-submersible INO15 platform and SBM Offshore’s tension leg platform, Float4Wind. This comprehensive approach will cover a wide spectrum of the floating offshore wind market.
A Visionary Team Driving Innovation
Headquartered in France, Ekwil is supported by a team of 40 experts, backed by the substantial resources of SBM offshore and technip energies to ensure seamless project execution. Leading this renewable energy powerhouse is Séverine Baudic, the former managing director of new energies and services at SBM offshore, with 25 years of offshore industry experience. She will serve as Ekwil’s CEO. Willy Gauttier, the former vice president of floating offshore wind at technip energies, will take on the role of Chief operating officer.
