Haihao Group brings you the latest FLNG project information

In recent years, Haihao Group has actively participated in pipeline system projects at home and abroad, especially offshore oil and gas projects. Cedar LNG, a partnership between Haisla Nation and Canadian energy infrastructure company Pembina Pipeline, has selected South Korean shipbuilding giant Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and US LNG infrastructure solutions company Black & Veatch for the project’s floating liquefied natural gas production unit (FLNG). Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services are provided by Design, Fabrication and Delivery, subject to final investment decision (FID).

Cedar LNG said that with the signing of the EPC contract, the project has entered the advanced stages of planning and development and is expected to achieve FID by the end of the first quarter of 2024. If the FID is successful, onshore construction work on the project is expected to begin as early as the second quarter of 2024, with the FLNG delivered and substantially completed in 2028.

It is worth noting that before Cedar LNG’s official announcement, SHI had stated that the company had received an order worth US$1.5 billion to build a FLNG facility in North America. However, the company did not disclose its partners at the time. The floating LNG facility will be located on land owned by the Haisla Nation in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, and will be capable of exporting 3 million tons of LNG per year.
