ASME B16.48 spectacle blind FF ASTM A516 Grade 60 – Custom Production for Russian client
Recently, Haihao Group secured a supply contract with a customer in Russia, which includes the manufacturing of ASME B16.48 spectacle blind FF ASTM A516 Grade 60 in various specifications, including DN200 CL150, DN100 CL300, DN25 CL150, and DN50 CL900. The customer requested specific material properties, including low sulfur and phosphorus content, and a surface coating of anti-rust oil. The products are being custom-manufactured according to the client’s provided drawings.
Material Characteristics: ASTM A516 Grade 60
The ASTM A516 Grade 60 material used for these spectacle blinds is a carbon steel with excellent mechanical properties. It is commonly used in the production of pressure vessels and boilers. The material provides good weldability, making it suitable for critical applications where high strength and durability are required.
One of the key characteristics of A516 Grade 60 is its low sulfur and phosphorus content, as requested by the client. This is essential because high sulfur and phosphorus can lead to material brittleness and reduce the material’s strength, making it less suitable for high-pressure or high-stress environments. By using low-sulfur and low-phosphorus steel, the spectacle blind is guaranteed to have improved toughness and resistance to cracking, ensuring its reliability in demanding applications.
Design and Functionality of Spectacle Blind
The spectacle blind is a key component used in piping systems, designed to control the opening or closing of the pipeline. The product consists of two circular metal plates connected by a central metal strip, forming a shape resembling eyeglasses. This design allows the Spectacle Blind to be rotated between two positions: one where the pipeline is open, and the other where it is closed. The spectacle blind is ideal for pipeline systems that require frequent switching or scheduled maintenance.
Due to its design, it provides an efficient and reliable way to isolate parts of the piping system, making it particularly useful in systems where regular maintenance, inspection, or cleaning is needed. This is commonly seen in industries such as oil and gas, chemical plants, and water treatment facilities.
Surface Treatment and Customization
To ensure the durability of the product during shipping and installation, the spectacle blinds are coated with a layer of anti-rust oil, protecting the surface from corrosion. This surface treatment ensures that the components remain in excellent condition even in harsh environments, which is particularly important when handling carbon steel materials exposed to moisture or other corrosive elements.
Additionally, the products are custom-manufactured according to the client’s drawings, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of the Russian customer in terms of dimensions, pressure class, and overall design.
The ASME B16.48 spectacle blind FF ASTM A516 Grade 60 manufactured by Haihao Group offers a combination of reliable material properties, superior design, and surface protection to meet the specific needs of our Russian client. The low sulfur and phosphorus content in the ASTM A516 Grade 60 material ensures the durability and strength of the spectacle blind, making it a valuable component for critical pipeline systems that require regular maintenance or pressure isolation.
