What are ASTM A182 F321 weld neck flanges?
Hebei Haihao Group has finished an order of ASTM A182 F321 weld neck flange order from Russia. Grade 321 is an austenitic stainless steel alloy that is similar in its chemistry to grade 304 stainless steel. However, what separates the SS 321 and grade 304 is the addition of titanium and the controlled content of carbon. Titanium is added in alloy 321 as a stabilizing element and is almost 5 times the amount of carbon in these flanges. With the addition of titanium, the alloy inherits the property of withstanding high temperature. Hence, the alloy also has good creep strength. On the other hand, the lower content of carbon in the alloy of ASTM A182 F321 Flanges would reduce carbide precipitation during welding, thus proving useful in applications that require welding performed. Flanges produced from grade 321 stainless steel offers excellent resistance to oxidation as well as chemical corrosion.
While the alloy for A182 Grade F321 weld neck(WN) RF flange could be readily formed or drawn, the alloy is more difficult to form as compared to other austenitic grades. The UNS S32100 Slip On Flange is used in a wide range of applications including industries such as petrochemical, oil & gas, aerospace and general industry. Grade 347 stainless steel can be easily welded and processed by traditional shop fabrication practices. Alloy 321 is stainless steel that exhibits good resistance to general corrosion that is comparable to 304. 321 Stainless Steel Flanges was developed for use in the chromium carbide precipitation range, wherein the temperatures fall in between 1800 – 1500°F. At such elevated temperatures, un-stabilized alloys such as austenitic stainless steel 304 are susceptible to intergranular attack.
