Client Requirements for A182 F51 Material

The client specified rigorous criteria for the A182 F51 duplex stainless steel material, which are as follows:

1.PREN ≥ 35:

The Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) must be at least 35, ensuring superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-rich environments.

2.Ferrite Content:

The ferrite phase must be accurately controlled within the duplex microstructure, balancing strength and corrosion resistance while preventing issues like brittleness or poor weldability.

3.Metallographic Structure:

The microstructure must meet the standards for duplex stainless steel, ensuring an optimal blend of ferrite and austenite phases.

4.Hardness Testing:

The material must demonstrate controlled hardness to avoid potential issues like stress corrosion cracking in service.

5.Pitting Corrosion Resistance:

The flanges must pass pitting corrosion tests, ensuring long-term performance in corrosive environments.

6.Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):

All products must undergo rigorous NDT, including ultrasonic or radiographic inspection, to confirm structural integrity and detect potential defects.

7.Low-Temperature Impact Toughness:

At -46°C, the material must achieve a minimum impact energy of 35J, ensuring reliability in low-temperature or cryogenic applications.
