Difference between butt welding flanges with neck and plain welding flanges with neck

Many people can not distinguish butt welding flanges with neck and plain welding flanges with neck(or flat welding flange with neck).Today i would like to introduce the differences between them.

1.Different welding forms:

The welding form of flanged pipe with neck flat welding is fillet welding,while the welding form of flanged pipe with neck butt welding is girth welding;

2.Different materials:

The flange with neck flat welding is processed by ordinary steel plate with the required thickness,while the flange with neck butt welding is mostly machined by forged steel parts;

3.Difference in nominal pressure:

Nominal pressure of plain welding flange with neck is 0.6-4.0mpa, while nominal pressure of butt welding flange with neck is 1-25mpa.

Another point is that the welding seam between the butt welding flange with neck and the pipe belongs to class B seam,and the welding seam between the flat welding flange with neck and the pipe belongs to class C seam,which is different from non-destructive testing after welding.

Plain welding flange with neck and butt welding flange with neck can’t replace,in terms of manufacturing point of view,with flat welding neck flange(SO  is the abbreviation of slip on) diameter,mean weight is small,the cost is low, the other of nominal diameter greater than 250 mm belt butt welding neck flange (WN is  the abbreviation of weld neck)to test,SO the flange does not need to test,SO the cost is low.
